Will Jones serves as Senate Intern to Senator Ken Yager

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Local resident, Will Jones, has had the privilege of interning for State Senator Ken Yager (R-Harriman) at his office in Nashville over the past four months.  Jones is currently a junior at Bryan College majoring English and Political Science with hopes of attending law school.  He is the first student at Bryan College to ever participate in the Tennessee Legislative Internship Program.

The legislature’s intern program provides full-time paid internships to undergraduate students and those who recently graduated from across the state.  The student interns receive full time academic credit. Each intern is assigned to a specific legislator and works within their office for the rest of the semester.

“I’ve really enjoyed working with Senator Yager,” said Jones when asked about his experience.  “It’s been a lot of fun.  I really respect the concern Senator Yager has for the people he represents. He takes correspondence with constituents very seriously.”

Jones’s tasks have included answering phone calls, writing bill summaries, and coordinating pages visits for each day of legislative session. Jones even had the chance to coordinate page visits for his younger siblings.

“Will’s been a great addition to my office and an invaluable asset over the past legislative session,” said Senator Yager. “We look forward to seeing what the future holds for him.”
