WHAT: Senator Mae Beavers (R – Mount Juliet) and Representative Debra Maggart (R – Hendersonville) will participate in a media conference calling for their fellow legislators to support the adoption of a statewide, industry-funded electronic tracking system to stop illicit purchases of over-the-counter medicines containing pseudoephedrine.
Specifically, Sen. Beavers and Rep. Maggart will address how their proposed legislation improves the state’s current system without restricting access to these medicines or increasing health care costs for Tennesseans. Sen. Beavers and Rep. Maggart will also discuss why it is a better solution for law enforcement officials and neighboring states. Baeteena Black, executive director of the Tennessee Pharmacists Association, will also provide remarks.
