(NASHVILLE, TN), June 27, 2011 – Morristown resident Judy Blackburn was recently elected as Chairman of the Tennessee Election Commission. Blackburn was the first woman in Tennessee history to serve on the Commission and is the first to hold the office of Chairman.
“Judy will do an outstanding job heading up the Commission,” said Senator Mike Faulk (R-Church Hill). “She has the integrity and work ethic needed to hold this position.”
“We are very proud of Judy,” said Senator Steve Southerland (R-Morristown). “She has been a wonderful asset and source of knowledge on the Commission and will be an outstanding Chairman.”
Blackburn was first elected in 2009. Before being elected, she served for four years on the Hamblen county Election Commission. She was also a small business owner for over 30 years.
