SENATOR OVERBEY APPOINTED TO NATIONAL LEGAL TASK FORCE

NASVHILLE — State Senator Doug Overbey (R-Maryville) has been appointed to the Council of State Governments’ (CSG) Legal Task Force. CSG is the bi-partisan professional association which is the only national organization serving all three branches of government in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

The organization’s 12-member Legal Task Force reviews litigation in federal courts that may potentially impact the states or the fundamental tenets of the American federalism system.

“I am honored to be chosen to serve on this panel and look forward to working with my colleagues from across the nation regarding the legal challenges states are facing,” said Senator Overbey, an attorney who is Vice-Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The Legal Task Force will, subject to a majority vote of its members, approve CSG’s participation on any amicus curiae briefs to the courts. Overbey will serve a two-year term beginning immediately.
