Senator Gresham to serve on Education Commission of the States Nominating Committee

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.), October 22, 2014 – Senate Education Committee Chairman Dolores Gresham (R-Somerville) has been appointed by Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval to serve on the Nominating Committee of the Education Commission of the States (ECS). The organization tracks state policy trends, translates academic research and provides unbiased advice to create opportunities for state leaders to learn from one another about how to improve education. Governor Sandoval is Chairman of ECS and the Nominating Committee makes recommendations for the group’s officers, Steering Committee positions, awards and recognitions.

Senator Gresham has also been chosen to participate in ECS’s panel regarding the impact of elections and the future of education policy in the U.S.

“ECS is the premier organization for states to learn from one another regarding what is working and what is not working to improve education,” said Senator Gresham. “They are a valued resource to policy makers across the nation. I appreciate the appointment and look forward to working with this organization to help promote student success.”
