(NASHVILLE, TN), January 14, 2011 — State Senator Rusty Crowe (R-Johnson City) has been reappointed Chairman of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. The announcement was made by Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey as the 107th General Assembly concluded their organizational session in Nashville this week.
“I appreciate the confidence that Lt. Governor Ramsey has placed in me to serve again as Chairman of this Committee” said Sen. Crowe. “Our committee has accomplished much over the last several years and I look forward to continuing to work on solutions to the many health care issues we face in Tennessee.”
The General Welfare, Health and Human Services Committee is responsible for public or private hospitals; health offices and their administration; institutions and services for the mentally retarded; all health care institutions and facilities; nursing homes; various health care professions, and all aspects of public welfare. In addition, Senator Crowe was also appointed to serve on the Senate Government Operations Committee, Education Committee, and the Joint Select Committee on Veterans Affairs.
The General Assembly will take a brief recess after the inauguration of Governor Haslam to make office assignments before convening the regular 2011 legislative session.
