Norris to Celebrate Veterans Day in Tipton
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Senate Majority Leader Mark Norris (R-Collierville) will spend much of Veterans Day in Tipton County this year, honoring those who served and continue to serve to protect America and preserve freedom.
Tomorrow at 10a.m., he will join in the festivities at the Veterans Day Parade running through downtown Covington. Immediately following the parade, Norris will attend the annual Veterans Day luncheon at Tipton County’s National Guard Armory at 4500 Mueller Brass Road. There, he will hear from fellow Shelby Countian State Representative Ron Lollar, a former Marine and Guardsman, who is serving as this year’s luncheon speaker. The day will end when Norris serves as guest speaker at the special Veterans Day Flag Retirement Ceremony being conducted by local Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts at the Atoka City Park at 4p.m. All of these events are open to the public.
“Our veterans, whether in war or peacetime, have given so much and their sacrifice demands our respect,” Norris said. “Being the child of a veteran and being blessed with so many honorable servicemen and women in my district, I have always been close to veterans’ issues and the need to constantly remember all that they have done for us. I am proud to have the opportunity to spend time in Tipton County to help celebrate these individuals and their service.”
Senator Norris represents the West Tennessee Counties of Shelby, Tipton, Lauderdale, and Dyer.
