McNally to Serve on Education Oversight
Nashville, Tenn. – State Sen. Randy McNally (R-Oak Ridge) has been appointed to serve on the Select Oversight Committee on Education.
“I appreciate Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey for appointing me to this committee,” McNally said. “I look forward doing my part to increase educational opportunities for the citizens of Tennessee.”
The Select Oversight Committee on Education was created by statue in 1984 during the Special Session on Education. The committee meets monthly to monitor the Career Ladder Program and the expenditures necessitated, the fiscal condition of teacher compensation, and such other programs, initiatives or topics for study as the members deem appropriate to further the cause of public education.
The committee is comprised of nine senators and nine representatives appointed by the respective speakers of each house for a term of two years
Serving his sixth term in the state Senate, McNally serves as Chairman of the Senate Finance, Ways and Means Committee. He is also the Vice Chairman of the Senate Rules Committee and a member of the Senate General Welfare, Health and Human Resources Committee.
