Lt. Governor Ramsey appoints Dr. Richard Manahan to
Court of Judiciary
(NASHVILLE, TN), March 19, 2009 –
Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey (R-Blountville) today announced the appointment of Dr. Richard Manahan of Johnson City to serve on the Court of the Judiciary. The 15-member Court investigates, hears, and determines charges regarding the discipline or removal of a Tennessee judge.
“Dr. Manahan will make an excellent addition to the Court of the Judiciary,” said Lt. Governor Ramsey. “His character and experience is exactly what we need to maintain the integrity and fairness of the judicial system.”
Dr. Manahan will serve as one of three public members of the Court who are not sitting judges, retired judges, or a member of the Tennessee Bar Association. He will fill the slot vacated by Jane Latimer, whose term ended in January.
“I could not think of a more respected Tennessean for Lt. Governor Ramsey to appoint to this Court than Dr. Manahan,” added State Senator Rusty Crowe (R-Johnson City), who also recommended him for appointment. “Dr. Manahan has served our community well throughout the years. His character and reputation are beyond reproach. We are very proud of him.”
