Job Fair yields excellent results says Overbey

(NASHVILLE, TN), July 27, 2012 – A job fair hosted by the Tennessee Career Center in Blount County and State Senator Doug Overbey (R-Maryville) could result in as many as 200 new hires according to information provided by the Department of Labor and Workforce Development.  Senator Overbey said he received a message today that the Department has confirmed a total of 66 individuals have already been hired as of Thursday from participating in the job fair, with more than twice that amount pending for hire.

The Career Center located in Blount County estimate around 150 to 200 individuals will receive job placements as a result of the job fair.  About 400 individuals participated in the event.

“Jobs are our number one priority as we work to grow our economy,” said Senator Overbey.  “I am extremely pleased with the results of this job fair.  I appreciate all the hard work from the staff at the Career Center for this event and the participating employers who were wonderful to work with.  Their efforts helped make this employment fair a huge success for many local job seekers.”
