SENATE HEALTH AND WELFARE COMMITTEE LOOKS AT WAYS TO PREVENT ADVERSE CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES IN TENNESSEE

NASHVILLE — The Senate Health and Welfare Committee tackled the problem of preventing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) during their recent fall meeting in Nashville, calling for more coordination to ensure at-risk children are being served.  Lawmakers on the committee heard from the state’s foremost experts representing various departments and agencies of state government and the Tennessee Academy of Pediatrics regarding actions being taken to prevent ACEs and its wide-ranging impact on Tennesseans.

Senate approves two bills to help Sevier County rebound from devastating November wildfires

Overbey bill addressing ethics concerns and a gap in transparency in the state’s campaign finance laws passes State Senate

SENATOR OVERBEY APPOINTED TO COUNCIL OF STATE GOVERNMENTS NATIONAL LEADERSHIP COUNCIL

Lawmakers file legislation to provide property tax relief to wildfire victims

(NASHVILLE), January 17, 2017 — Senator Doug Overbey (R-Maryville), Senator Steve Southerland (R-Morristown), Representative Dale Carr (R-Sevierville) and Representative Andrew Farmer (R-Sevierville) announced today they have introduced a bill authorizing local governing bodies, by a two-thirds vote, to prorate real and personal property damaged by the November wildfires.
