(NASHVILLE, Tenn.), November 22, 2013 — State Senator John Stevens (R-Huntingdon) said today he has been advised that a $153,230 Housing Trust Fund grant administered by the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) will go to Community Action Network to acquire or rehabilitate two units of rental housing in Benton County. The funds will be used to assist very low income senior citizens over the age of 60 with housing needs.
“I am very pleased this organization will receive this grant to help local citizens in need of housing,” said Senator Stevens. “These funds will be put to good use in Benton County to ensure they have adequate and affordable shelter.”
The grant for Benton County was one of only seven approved by THDA statewide. The grants are distributed to help the elderly, those with very low incomes and special needs Tennesseans.
