Senator Overbey receives William V. Corr Award from the Tennessee Primary Care Association

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.), December 9, 2015 — State Senator Doug Overbey (R-Maryville) has received the William V. Corr award for outstanding leadership resulting in health policy development in Tennessee. The honor was presented to Overbey by the Tennessee Primary Care Association (TPCA) at the group’s President’s Dinner in Nashville.

This award, named in honor of William V. Corr, J.D., recognizes outstanding leadership resulting in health policy development or innovative program implementation in Tennessee. Corr organized and administered community health services in East Tennessee. He worked with state policy makers to analyze Tennessee law and its impact on the delivery of primary care. His work laid the foundation for future primary care policy.

“I am honored to receive this award,” said Senator Overbey. “It is very important that Tennesseans have access to primary health care services in communities across our state. I look forward to continuing to work with patients, policy makers, and health care providers to improve health care for our citizens.”

The Tennessee Primary Care Association improves access to primary health care through leadership, advocacy, and support as the voice of Community Health Centers. TPCA’s membership is comprised of more than 30 non-profit primary care clinics operating more than 200 satellite sites that provide high quality, comprehensive primary care to people across the state.
