Senator Overbey appointed to Advisory Commission on Rules of Practice and Procedure

NASHVILLE — State Senator Doug Overbey, R-Maryville, has been appointed by members of the State Supreme Court to serve on Tennessee’s Advisory Commission on Rules of Practice and Procedure. The Commission meets periodically to study and make recommendations as to court rules on practice and procedure of the legal profession in Tennessee.

“I am very humbled to serve on this Commission,” said Senator Overbey. “The rules which govern this time-honored profession are very important to our judicial system. I look forward to serving on this panel to help assure the rights of litigants to present their case fully and to have it heard in an efficient and fair manner.”

Overbey is First Vice-Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee and Chairman of the Senate Ethics Committee in the Tennessee General Assembly. He received his J.D. from the University Of Tennessee College Of Law. He is an attorney with the firm of Robertson, Overbey, Wilson and Beeler.
