Senator Overbey announces grant for Alcoa Airport’s Tennessee Wing Civil Air Patrol

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.), August 20, 2013 — State Senator Doug Overbey (R-Maryville) said today he has been informed by the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) that the Tennessee Wing and Civil Air Patrol will receive a $94,237 state grant. The funds will be used building renovations for the Tennessee Wing Civil Air Patrol Building at the airport in Alcoa.

“This money will help make much needed improvements,” said Senator Overbey. “I appreciate TDOT and all of our local officials who helped in securing these funds.”

Except for routine expenditures, grant applications are reviewed by the Tennessee Aeronautics Commission (TAC), which is a five member board charged with policy planning and with regulating changes in the state Airport System Plan. The board carefully reviews all applications for grants to ensure that the proper state and local matching funds are in place and that the grants will be used for needed improvements.
