(NASHVILLE), July 11, 2012 — Senate Majority Leader Mark Norris (R-Collierville) has been endorsed in his bid for re-election by Right to Life. Norris is seeking re-election in the newly redrawn 32nd District which consists of parts of unincorporated Shelby County, and all of Arlington, Bartlett, Collierville, Lakeland and all of Tipton County.
“Mark Norris has demonstrated leadership for the cause of life in the state Senate and Tennessee Right to Life is proud to endorse him for re-election,” said Brian Harris, President of Tennessee Right to Life. “At no time have the stakes been higher or the need greater for capable and competent pro-life legislators who are willing to listen, act and lead on behalf of the unborn. Without question, Senator Mark Norris has met and exceeded that measure.”
Right to Life is a non-profit grassroots organization that is dedicated to the protection of Tennessee’s most vulnerable citizens, especially those threatened by abortion. The group has members throughout the 32nd District.
“Senator Norris has been a consistent pro-life leader in the state Senate and his colleagues there look to him for guidance on matters affecting the protection of human life,” Harris added.
“I am pleased to receive this endorsement,” said Senator Norris. “It has been important work we’ve done together to protect life. I look forward to continuing these efforts in the 108th General Assembly.”
Norris was co-prime sponsor of the resolution enabling Tennessee to begin the process of restoring the right of the people to decide what Tennessee law should be regarding abortions within the bounds of federal court decisions.
