Senator Ketron honored for work to ensure integrity of
election process

(NASHVILLE, TN), July 10, 2009  – State Senator Bill Ketron (R-Murfreesboro) has been recognized with the 2008-09 National Association of Secretaries of State Medallion Award from Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett.   The award was given “in appreciation of Ketron’s work to ensure the integrity of Tennessee elections,
while supporting fiscal stability for county governments.”

“I am honored to present the NASS Medallion Award to Sen. Ketron for his work in pursuing the highest standards of integrity in the electoral process as well as his work to protect the fiscal stability of local governments,” Secretary of State Tre Hargett said. “He is not only an asset to his legislative district, but to all Tennesseans.”

Ketron is Chairman of the Senate State and Local Government Committee which is responsible for hearing all legislation pertaining to Tennessee’s election laws.  He is also the Chairman of the Joint House and Senate Fiscal Review Committee, a legislative panel that serves as a watchdog on state spending matters.

In accepting the award, Ketron said, “I am humbled by this award and appreciate this recognition.   Our system of government rests on the cornerstone that the election process will be carried out with the highest level of integrity.   I will continue to work towards that goal in these economically challenging times.”
