(NASHVILLE, TN), June 24, 2013 — State Senator Janice Bowling (R-Tullahoma) is joining with the Arnold Community Council (ACC) to host a Regional Community Job Fair. The free Job Fair will be held at the Manchester-Coffee County Conference Center on July 16, 2013 with sessions beginning at 9:00 AM.
“There are many civil servants and military contract employees in our communities that have been affected by Department of Defense cuts,” said Senator Bowling. “We want to bring together all the resources available to help them and other citizens who are unemployed or underemployed get the assistance they need. I hope this job fair will give them an avenue that can help them get back into the workforce.”
The schedule for the event includes career coaching and job preparation assistance from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Commercial and industry representatives with expanding companies in the region will be present from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
All exhibitors must register at www.accjobfair.ventbrite.com. For additional information email: [email protected] or call (931) 212-4093, 454-4574 or 454-7723.
“In discussions recently with Col. Toth, we discussed how the Arnold Community Council (ACC) and local communities could assist Arnold and ATA employees if full sequestration is implemented,” said ACC President Steve Cope. “Government civilian workforce is affected by furloughs of one day per week (20% reduction in pay) as well as the ATA workforce in a different way—potential layoffs. We discussed options for assistance and offered to include the communities as a whole since we have others in similar positions. Many people in surrounding communities are unemployed or underemployed and can take advantage of offerings by the local communities that get involved. We appreciate Senator Bowling’s assistance in making this event a reality.”
In addition, the ACC is preparing a consolidated Resource Guide to assist military families when relocating to the area. The group is working with local colleges to accomplish this task. Upon completion, the information will be available on the ACC website.
