(NASHVILLE, TN), January 17, 2015 — State Senator Paul Bailey (R-Sparta) has been appointed 2nd Vice-Chairman of the Senate Energy, Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. Bailey was also appointed to the Senate’s Transportation and Safety Committee and the Government Operations Committee.
The announcement was made by Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey as the 109th General Assembly concluded their organizational session in Nashville on Saturday.
The Senate Energy, Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee hears legislation concerning energy, agriculture, farming, forestry, natural resources, conservation, game, fish, mines and minerals. The Senate Government Operations Committee oversees legislation to create, reauthorize, reorganize or sunset departments, commissions, boards, agencies and councils of state government. The Senate Transportation and Safety Committee is responsible for highways, roads and bridges; railroads; air, bus and vehicular transportation; rules and regulations for highways, and facilities in connection with and navigation of waterways, lakes and streams; and the Department of Safety.

The General Assembly will take a brief recess to make office assignments before convening the Special Session on Healthcare on February 2.
