MEDIA ADVISORY: Rutherford County officials to participate in disaster relief

WHO: State Senators Bill Ketron and Jim Tracy; State Representatives Joe Carr, Curt Cobb, Kent Coleman, Donna Rowland; Rutherford County Mayor Ernest Burgess; various other local officials

WHAT: Dr. Rajesh Aggarwal and his wife, Dr. Rieta Agarwal, have committed to donating $10,000 to assist with disaster relief and aid for victims of the recent devastating tornadoes that swept through Rutherford County. They will also be offering medical care at the Good Health Medical Clinic, and housing for those who were displaced from their homes. The Rutherford County Legislative delegation will also be donating $1,000 each to the fund at an event tomorrow. Greenhouse Ministries, an organization located in
Murfreesboro that will be coordinating the relief effort, will also have representatives on hand. Greenhouse Ministries Director Cliff Sharp will be attending to encourage the community to come together in the effort.

WHY: Parts of Rutherford County were devastated by tornadoes on April 10. The tornado left a line of devastation 15 miles long and in some places, half a mile wide. Hundreds of homes and businesses were destroyed. Rutherford County officials are working to raise money and awareness in the community to help those who were affected by the storms.
