(October, 11 2011, NASHVILLE) – Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey today appointed Melissa Kmiecik to the Advisory Council on State Procurement.
“Transforming the way our state negotiates contracts and makes purchases is integral to the conservative approach to reducing government spending,” said Lt. Gov. Ramsey. “Ms. Kmiecik’s experience in public sector purchasing will be of great aid to unified Republican government as we uphold our commitment to get the taxpayer the best bang for their buck.”
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Ms. Kmiecik has been an employee at IBM for 28 years where she has served the company in various management and sales roles. Currently, she is the Client Executive for Public Sector accounts in the state of Tennessee where she is tasked with managing customer relationships and coordinating the sales and marketing efforts of the IBM team in their dealings with the state.
The Advisory Council on State Procurement was created this past year as a part of a comprehensive reform of the state procurement process. The Council advises the state’s new Chief Procurement officer in all areas, including procurement management, contract management, contract compliance /quality assurance, and vendor customer relations.
