Leader Norris announces grant for Millington Regional Jetport

(NASHVILLE, TN), July 30, 2012  — Senate Majority Leader Mark Norris (R-Collierville) said today a $175,000 state grant has been approved for the Millington Regional Jetport Airport.  The grant is available through the TDOT’s Aeronautics Division.

The Millington Regional Jetport Airport was one of only 14 airports across the state that received funds for infrastructure improvements.  The Aeronautics Division has the responsibility of inspecting and licensing the state’s 126 heliports and 75 public/general aviation airports.  Norris said the funds from the local grant will be used to renovate a hangar at the airport.  The grant has a local match of $175,000 for a total of $350,000 slated for improvements.

“Airports are important for economic development, as well as use by local citizens,” said Norris.  “I am very pleased to see that this money has been allocated for this purpose.”
