Policy Task Force

(NASHVILLE, TN), February 20, 2009 – Senate Welfare, Health and Human Resources Committee Chairman Rusty Crowe (R-Johnson City) has been named to a national policy group on health care. Crowe was appointed as a member of the Council of State Government’s Health Policy Task Force at the recommendation of Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey.

The task force provides a forum to encourage multi-state problem solving and sharing of best practices, and facilitates networking among state officials and between the public and private sectors. Task force priorities include: Medicaid and state health care reform; public health, chronic disease prevention and health promotion; quality improvement and disease management; mental health; medical malpractice; prescription drugs; and health insurance affordability.

“I appreciate the opportunity to serve on this national Health Policy Task Force,” said Senator Crowe.  “I look forward to working on health issues with leaders in other states, and also learning what practices we might benefit from.”

The appointment starts immediately and extends through 2011.
