SENATOR BAILEY RECEIVES TENNESSEE DISTRICT ATTORNEYS’ PUBLIC SAFETY ADVOCATE AWARD

SPARTA, Tenn. (June 20, 2018) – The state’s 31 District Attorneys have recognized state Sen. Paul Bailey (R–Sparta) with the Public Safety Advocate Award.

The Public Safety Advocate Award is given to a legislator who recognizes the necessity of protecting our citizens and takes action to advance public safety.

Senate approves legislation protecting landowners by allowing local governments to regulate the wind industry in Tennessee

NASHVILLE – The State Senate unanimously approved legislation today protecting landowners by allowing local governments to regulate the wind energy industry in Tennessee.  Senate Bill 1793, sponsored by Senator Paul Bailey (R-Sparta) and Representative Cameron Sexton (R-Crossville), comes after legislation was passed last year requiring a study be conducted regarding wind turbines and their impact on Tennessee communities and surrounding property owners.

Senators Ken Yager and Paul Bailey announce inclusion of $600,000 in Governor Bill Haslam’s supplemental budget amendment to purchase property for Upper Cumberland Veterans Cemetery

(NASHVILLE) –Senate State and Local Government Committee Chairman Ken Yager (R-Kingston) and Senate Transportation and Safety Committee Chairman Paul Bailey (R-Sparta) today announced the inclusion of $600,000 in Governor Bill Haslam’s supplemental budget amendment to purchase property for the Upper Cumberland Veterans Cemetery. The amendment was recommended by the two lawmakers when Department of Veterans Affairs Many-Bears Grinder presented the department’s budget to the State and Local Government Committee for approval earlier this month.

Governor Haslam appoints Sen. Bailey to working group reviewing school safety

(NASHVILLE), March 5, 2018 – Governor Bill Haslam has appointed Senator Paul Bailey (R-Sparta) to a working group reviewing school safety in Tennessee.  The 17-member group is comprised of leaders from the executive branch, education, mental health and safety.  Bailey is one of four members of the General Assembly appointed to the study.
