Sen. Roberts, Lt. Gov. McNally condemn deceptive “Middle of the Night” Phone Calls

NASHVILLE – State Senator Kerry Roberts (R-Springfield) and Lt. Governor Randy McNally (R-Oak Ridge) today strongly condemned the Tennessee Justice Center for placing robocalls in the middle of the night regarding legislation Roberts is sponsoring in the Tennessee General Assembly.  Roberts said the unethical calls were made by Justice Center with the “call back” number going to his legislative office.

Sen. Roberts among key officials nationwide seeking solutions to help citizens on welfare go back to work

NASHVILLE  —  State Senator Kerry Roberts (R-Springfield) met with key federal officials and other state policymakers who support Medicaid work requirements in Washington, D.C. in an effort to find solutions to end government dependency.  Roberts was among a select group nationwide that attended a Foundation of Government Accountability (FGA) meeting on Medicaid Work Requirements held March 8-9.

Lawmakers propose bipartisan gun safety legislation

NASHVILLE – State Senator Kerry Roberts (R-Springfield) and Senate Minority Leader Lee Harris (D-Memphis) today announced bipartisan legislation that would make it cheaper for gun owners to safely store their firearms.  Senate Bill 2476 would exempt the purchase of gun safes from the state’s sales tax.

(NASHVILLE)State Senator Kerry Roberts (R-Springfield) has been appointed Chairman of the Senate Calendar Committee.  The announcement was made yesterday by Lt. Governor Randy McNally (R-Oak Ridge), as the 110th General Assembly reconvened for the 2018 legislative session. The Calendar Committee is responsible for scheduling bills and resolutions for consideration by the State Senate.

Sen. Roberts appointed to Joint Ad Hoc Committee on Disability Services

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Senator Kerry Roberts (R-Springfield) has been appointed by Lt. Governor Randy McNally to serve on the Joint Ad Hoc Committee on Disability Services. The committee will review all disability services in the state, discuss ways to better streamline services and improve their quality, access and affordability.

“This committee will take a comprehensive look at the scope of disability services and how they are delivered by various state government departments and agencies so we can remove any barriers,” said Sen.

Legislation sponsored by Sen. Roberts combats welfare fraud in Tennessee

NASHVILLE — Legislation designed to combat welfare fraud in Tennessee is headed to the Senate floor for a final vote after being approved by the Senate State and Local Government Committee this week. Senate Bill 365, sponsored by Senator Kerry Roberts (R-Springfield), requires agencies within state government to communicate with each other to identify people who are receiving benefits for which they are not eligible.

Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge to be lit red in honor of the signing of ‘Jared’s Law’

NASHVILLE, Tenn., (June 9, 2016) – In honor of Governor Bill Haslam signing “Jared’s Law,” the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge will be lit in red tonight, June 9, 2016. Jared’s Law aims to prevent student suicide by requiring all employees of a Local Education Association (LEA) to complete two hours of training annually in suicide prevention and awareness and for each LEA to develop a policy on suicide prevention awareness.
