Legislation sponsored by Sen. Yager to increase Medicaid funding for ambulance services is signed into law

(NASHVILLE) May 10, 2018 – Legislation sponsored by Senator Ken Yager (R-Kingston) that continues the Ambulance Service Provider Assessment Act has been signed into law by Governor Bill Haslam. This law allows the state to receive additional Medicaid funds to be distributed to local private and public ambulance services for transporting patients covered by the program.

Sen. Yager announces $50,000 for LaFollette Post Office restoration following sponsorship of appropriations amendment

(NASHVILLE) April 4, 2018 – The City of LaFollette will receive $50,000 to preserve the historic LaFollette Post Office under an appropriation amendment added to the state budget at the request of Senator Ken Yager (R-Kingston).  The legislation, which also passed the House of Representatives, is set to become law upon the signature of Governor Bill Haslam.

General Assembly approves Primacy and Reclamation Act allowing Tennessee to reclaim control over state’s surface mining coal industry

(NASHVILLE), April 11, 2018 – Legislation allowing Tennessee to reclaim control of the state’s surface coal mining industry has passed the House of Representatives.  The Primacy and Reclamation Act, sponsored by Senator Ken Yager (R-Kingston) and Representative Dennis Powers (R-Jacksboro), brings direct oversight to the state through a system of issuing permits and enforcing regulations by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC).

NASHVILLE —  State Senator Ken Yager (R-Kingston) said today that he is very pleased that funding he proposed for the Henry / Stafford Agricultural Exposition Center at Roane State Community College (RSCC) is in the proposed supplemental budget amendment submitted by Governor Bill Haslam today.  The amendment provides $300,000 to complete the center which plays host to a wide variety of livestock and agricultural-related events every year.

(NASHVILLE) –Senate State and Local Government Committee Chairman Ken Yager (R-Kingston) and Senate Transportation and Safety Committee Chairman Paul Bailey (R-Sparta) today announced the inclusion of $600,000 in Governor Bill Haslam’s supplemental budget amendment to purchase property for the Upper Cumberland Veterans Cemetery. The amendment was recommended by the two lawmakers when Department of Veterans Affairs Many-Bears Grinder presented the department’s budget to the State and Local Government Committee for approval earlier this month.
