Senator Yager and Representative Travis pleased about operational license for Watts Bar Unit 2

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.), October 22, 2015 – State Senator Ken Yager (R-Kingston) and Representative Ron Travis (R-Dayton) today praised the approval by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission of an operating license for TVA’s Watts Bar Unit 2. Earlier this year, Yager and Travis won passage of Senate Joint Resolution 92 in the Tennessee General Assembly encouraging the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to support the license application submitted by the Tennessee Valley Authority.

SENATOR ROBERTS AND SENATOR BEAVERS ADDRESS PARENTS’ CONCERNS REGARDING ACCESS TO MATERIALS USED IN THE TEACHING OF ISLAM

NASHVILLE — In response to the reported refusal by some Tennessee school districts to make teaching materials readily available to parents involving the religion of Islam, State Senators Mae Beavers (R-Mt. Juliet) and Kerry Roberts (R-Springfield) issued the following statement:

“We have received reports that parents are being refused access to material used in 7th grade social studies regarding the teaching of Islam,” said Roberts and Beavers.
